(the dream) love vs money...an '09 must have...

my new must have album is the dream's new cd, love vs money. now, i am a fan of the dream but i've never gone out and actually purchased an album...until now. i listened to a few tracks on itunes and i was convinced that this album was fire. and i have not been disappointed. i can actually play this album from start to finish without skipping a song...i love that!

however, i do go straight to my favorite song every morning while i'm getting ready. my love, featuring mariah carey. this song is great! i love the dynamic between the two artists. their voices mesh well together; very melodic and smooth...its genius. i also bump, rockin' that sh*t on a regular basis (who doesn't love that one). and i am also beginning to fall for walkin' on the moon, featuring kanye. at first i wasn't feelin' it but its catchy...i must admit, i tap my feet when i listen to it, lol.

the cd has a futuristic feel to it but its not overdone like some artists have done. i also like the fact that it's not packed with features. sometimes that kills an album for me....so happy listening & if you don't have this album, GO GET IT!

beyonce fierce...

i am...sasha fierce, big hit?? i think so.

i hate to jump on the bandwagon with this one but whatever (lol). listening to beyonce's album was a pleasant treat. there were a few disappointments but nonetheless, the album was a good one. i can tell, as can anyone with a brain, that her songs have been influenced by her relationship. and i can't say i am mad at that. the album, both sides, show a sassy, confident and mature B. i like it. i really do. jay, keep up the good work, lol.
halo and ego have to be my fav's. both songs have a catchy beat. the words, great....the delivery, good. her sound seems really relaxed. she doesn't really strain her vocals or really bellow out choice notes. its a different sound for her and i like it.

she ventured out with a few songs but she is sasha fierce too so i guess that explains it....? idk...but if you haven't already, check out halo and ego. love em both....she ventured out on ego and i dig it. peace yall....happy listening!

brand new flava for ya ear....

i always come across the most interesting things when i am stuck in the house. as i sat here with my foot propped up last night (long story, lol), i came across 2 young ladies who's music i am very interested in. their names are hope and chrissy depauw. i found them on imeem when i was listening to a conya doss song (she to is another story) and i instantly fell in love with their lyrics. now, i do not know if they write their own lyrics or what but the delivery is great nonetheless.

chrissy depauw has a very sultry voice and her song, chance, is now one of my favorites. i can relate to the lyrics and yall know how i feel about lyrics. i can relate to. her voice is a little breathy which is why i had to look up the lyrics. but her voice is still pretty and she delivers the song soo well.

hope has a song called bring me flowers and its very cute and it reminds me of the same sound of colby caillait and michelle branch (2 other artists i suggest you look up). her sound is acoustic and i like it. it may be an acquired taste but hey, i like it. bring me flowers reminds is also a song i think we can all relate too. very simply stated....not complex.

both of these ladies caught my attention and i hope you give them a chance as well. i leave you with the lyrics from chrissy depauw's, chance. hope i helped broaden your music spectrum. check 'em out and let me know what you think.

be blessed,

so i may be a little late but hey...better late than never. i am now hooked on chisette michele. when she first came out i was like...'ehh, ok'. so i didn't pay her or her songs much attn. but as her songs flooded the airways and my music taste grew, i began to hear and pay attn to her lyrics. if i had my way captured me and the video sealed the deal. i was sold. i said to myself, this girl has soul...she's gotta story and i wanna know more.

so i picked up her album and listened to every song in the car on the way home. i was blown away. it was crazy how her experiences matched mine and matched those of people i knew. my emotions went up and down while listening. i later took the cd in the house and closed the door and immersed myself in, i am: chrisette michele. my top 5 songs from the album are:

your joy

golden & love is you (its a tie...lol)

like a dream

be ok

mr. radio

they all have a different sound, a different story and i can relate to 'em all. your joy is one of those tear jerkers bc it makes you think of the times back when you were a kid and you loved being 'daddy's little girl'...(in my case, fafa's little girl). golden....that song is just it. i mean, she took the sanctity of marriage, vows and real love and combined it into a song. it was sheer genius. same with love is you; the song takes love and the meaning to another level (as does the video which i LVOE by the way)....sooooo i must admit, thanks to my girl jes and my cuzo terrence i was put onto chrisette and i am soo happy i gave her a real chance. if yall don't have the cd, get it asap...and rock with me, rock rock rock rock with me...(lol)...

i always leave w/ something so i leave you with lyrics from my fav from chrisette...golden...

Take me back in the day when loving was pure
Love ain't going away, love is always secure
Life's not always perfect but love's always forever
Let's let true love connect, let's try lasting together

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my all
I'm so ready to give to the day that my life is no more
I'll be everything that this woman could possibly be'
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days
When commitment was golden

Be the man of my dreams and get down on one knee, love
Say you'll be all I need and then ask me to marry you, my love
Let's take two golden bands and let's walk down the isle, love
I'll say I do and you'll say I do, may good God and commitment, oh

I'm so ready to love, I'm so ready to promise my all, all(Promise my all)
And I'm so ready to give to the day that my life is no more(My life is no more)
I'll be everything that this woman could possibly be, yes, I will(Possibly be)'
Cause I'm ready to be like the olden days
When commitment was golden(Golden)
Let's last forever
Now typical American, cherry love
Let's stay together
May God smile upon our everlasting lives

humming bird....

a few years back, tweet was said to be the new 'aaliyah'...i guess bc missy helped launch her career. to me, tweet has a distinct style and to compare her to aaliyah was a bit off to me. but maybe i am being to literal. nonetheless, the sultry 37 year old (yes....37) songstress has an album coming december 9, 2008 entitled, 'love tweet'. i am anticipating this album drop, to say the least.

anyway, tweet has been a favorite of mine since, "oops (oh my)". her voice caught me, as did the beat. then she had her song with trina, "no panties", and that was a rather forward song but still, i liked it. but my all time favs by her have to be "turn the lights off", and "i'm done". both songs are very different in their content, but the delivery is the same nonetheless. she's got a voice that does her freshman album justice; ' southern hummingbird'. she's one of those singers who can really make you feel a song. like "i'm done"....idk how many times i listened to that song to help me get over a rough (break-up) patch. i'm just one to listen to a song for more than just a beat....
if you have a chance, check out her song w/ her daughter called, "the two of us". it's very sweet and her daughter has a beautiful voice.

everytime....

ok...so here's the disclaimer...or a poem...idk what it is or if its either but whatever....

i love music....music is in me, its what keeps me going..thru break-ups, death, triumph, everyday life...it's the music that gets me thru. so there you go...musicnme have something special...not everyone understands...

i just think i'm going to use this as a way to tell everyone how i think and feel about music....sometimes its a love hate relationship, sometimes its a catch 22...a disappointment or even a break-up...but just like any relationship, musicnme always seem to find our way back...so enjoy, comment, suggest...or just read...just remember, its just how i feel about the musicnme...
